That Dot on a Big Blue Planet

Everyone has a place. That place you can go to catch your breath, to escape from our technologically driven world, to have some needed reflection time. If you haven't found your place trust that one day you will. And once you do don't stop visiting, heck you could even live there!

High Meadow Lodge on laundry day

There is a place, in rural Vermont, that I am lucky enough to call home. It's an adorable cedar cabin overlooking Lake Champlain from a high meadow. My family, the Pease clan, has owned the land up there since... a long time ago, at least 5 generations up from me. Long story short there were lots of kids so the land got divided up between them so now each family branch has a small cottage near the lake and almost everyone up there is related to me somehow. Yes it's basically a cult.

Sunsets and bonfires on North Beach

Even though I don't live here year round this place has shaped me as a person in so many ways. I continue to grow in my spirit of adventure and every year I am more thankful for this place and all it has brought me. The lessons I have learned go from dealing with emergencies on the water to resolving cousin fights to expert bridge playing. I am lucky enough to have a place where I am encouraged to be brave and vulnerable while I make mistakes.

Yakin’

Your place doesn't have to be a cabin, it can be a mountain range, a lake, a tree, anything that connects you to nature and grounds you. You can also find it in multiple places or during a certain activity anywhere in the world. I hope everyone gets the chance to find your place, where you feel completely whole and confident and supported.

Da Capo

Okay adventurers... take a deep breath, feel grounded in this moment, picture that place and even if you haven't found it picture the place that has been calling you, now open your atlas, and go for it.

We're all cheering you on.
