Human Belonging
One of my favorite things is watching my friends be joyful. As we raced across the sand to the water they began running through the waves and laughing with their whole bodies and tracing patterns in the sand with their feet. I watched them each have their moment, whether that was a conversation with a local fisherman, solitarily looking for shells, or slowly having the waves bury their feet in sand; they each found a space to reflect and be their whole selves.
That Dot on a Big Blue Planet
Everyone has a place. That place you can go to catch your breath, to escape from our technologically driven world, to have some needed reflection time. If you haven't found your place trust that one day you will. And once you do don't stop visiting, heck you could even live there!
Very Old Meets New
Within the walls I felt like I was walking with history. The city hasn't changed since it was built and this community has thrived with every generation. One thing that didn't change is the fact that vehicles of any kind are left outside of the walls; you must use your own self to walk the city. However, I didn't feel stuck in the past. The look and feel of the city was old and inviting but the people and businesses within the city embraced modernity.
The Match of the Century
We set 15 minute halves while Meme and Papa set the teams formations. Then with a warning to the teenagers about "friendly competition" the match began. Brothers chased each other around the field, parents yelled that they were open, and a grandmother waited... directly in front of her opponents goal... for the perfect pass... to score on her husband... who commentated on the game constantly.
Adventure is Out There!
It has been uncharacteristically hot for Connecticut this entire week, a high of 90 everyday with lots of humidity. Most people would be inside blasting the AC but I love the sun and wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather and an opportunity for all of us to hangout. So, we planned an afternoon hike followed by a swim since we knew we would be sweaty, sticky, and gross.
Hey, it’s Me!
My name is Katie Grinnell and I am an adventure enthusiast. I've created this blog to share my love of traveling experiences with you all. However, it won't be about how to travel; it will be how to live that experience to fullest. I'll talk about all aspects of adventuring and what that means to me.
